I decided recently that 'love' is going to be a verb in my marriage. Tom and I have pledged to show each other that we love each other, not just say it. In fact, I would prefer if we only said "I love you" every once in awhile as opposed to daily.
In the spirit of making love a verb, I’ve decided that Tom and I should date again. However, we’ve been married for 5 years and I think I’m out of practice. I’m stumped for ideas beyond dinner and a movie.
I’m hoping that I might be able to elicit some suggestions for date ideas from the lovely people who read my blog. In other words, please please please help! We have a date night coming up and, so far, I’ve come up with bubkis! Nada. Zilch.
Help!
One thing I love doing is taking turns planning. I'll have Joel plan a date or weekend trip as a surprise for me. It's SO fun seeing what he picks out, thinking that I'll love! And then I do the same for him. This adds a fun element of surprise and thoughtfulness, but also takes the pressure off one person to do all the planning every time.
ReplyDeleteBut, as for date ideas specifically - a hike, museum, bowling, billiards, bike ride, canoeing (I loved doing this with Joel!), horseback riding, amusement park, cooking or pottery class, board game night at home, picnic & frisbee in the park. I also like to just go "adventuring" get in the car, pick a direction, drive until we're thoroughly lost and just explore! We find awesome restaurants and destinations that way!
